Our targets
Growing our business while lowering the pressure to the environment

Lowering carbon intensity
We are committed to supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy and actively contributing to the fight against climate change. As part of Aspo Plc, we are aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and support Aspo’s validated greenhouse gas reduction targets:
1. Reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions 42.0% by 2030 from a 2023 base year*.
2. engage suppliers representing 50.0% of Scope 3 emissions from purchased goods and services to set science‑ based targets by 2029.
3. Reduce absolute Scope 3 emissions from the use of sold products for distributed fossil fuels 100% by 2030 from a 2023 base year.
*The target includes land‑use related emissions and removals from bioenergy feedstocks.
Within the Aspo Group, nearly all Scope 1 and 2 emissions originate from our sister company ESL Shipping. Therefore, the SBTi target most relevant to Telko is strengthening supplier engagement and encouraging the adoption of science-based climate targets throughout our value chain. Through close collaboration with suppliers, we aim to drive emissions reductions beyond our own operations and support the transition towards a more sustainable future.
Additionally, our target is to improve the greenhouse gas emission data and measurements to be able to set absolute emission reduction targets in the future concerning all the relevant emission scopes and categories.
Improving recycling and waste management
Due to the nature of our operations, the total amount of waste we generate is relatively low. However, we continuously monitor product waste and actively work to keep it minimal through several initiatives, such as optimizing purchasing processes and finding alternative uses for second-grade products, rather than sending them to waste management companies. To further reduce waste across the value chain, we incorporate partially recycled materials in the packaging for products we handle ourselves. We are also committed to sourcing recycled raw materials for our customers, offering sustainable alternatives to virgin materials. Sales of these materials contribute to reducing CO2 emissions within the value chain.
Our specific targets in this area include:
- Minimizing the waste generated by our operations.
- Identifying alternative uses for second-grade materials to avoid disposal.
- Using recycled packaging materials and reuse packages where possible, without compromising safety or quality.
Driving sustainable innovations
To drive positive environmental impact, we are committed to identifying, promoting, and expanding the sales of more sustainable products and solutions that help reduce carbon emissions across the value chain. By increasing the share of sustainable raw materials in our portfolio, we aim to support our customers in achieving their own sustainability goals while enhancing our CO₂ handprint. Our focus is on delivering measurable sustainability improvements through our products, partnerships, and day-to-day operations.
Our targets are:
- Constantly increase the sales of sustainable plastics.
- To recognize the products affecting positively in the CO2 handprint.
- Actively identify and promote products and projects that positively impact the CO2 handprint.
