Telko History and Future

Telko has more than 110 years of business. The company was established in 1908 with name Metalliteollisuuskonttori. Telko's roots are deep in the Finnish industry – the name of the company comes from the historical Suomen Teollisuuskonttori, which was established in 1917 and was specialized in imports of coal and coke.

 

Telko has always been serving local customers with products and solutions they need.

Present-day Telko was born in 2008 in the fusion of Aspo Chemicals and Kauko-Telko into Aspo, of which Telko is a subsidiary. The new company has since then become one of the leading distributors in selected markets with a unique presence in Eastern Market.


In over hundred and ten years time Telko has grown into a multinational raw material distributor and process expert serving customers around the globe. Telko Values will guide the company forward in development to become a sustainability forerunner and preferred solution provider which will bridge the industrial customers and principals in a sustainable way.

1908

The establishment of Metalliteollisuuskonttori by well known mechanical engineering companies.

1917

Suomen Teollisuuskonttori established, importing coal and coke among other products.

1936

Adoption of the name Telko.

1937

Sales start for Good Year car tyres and technical plastics.

1960's and 1970's

Hardware store operations.

1970

1977

First storage tank in Rauma chemical terminal is established.

1978

Starckjohan becomes major shareholder in Telko.

1989

Starckjohann-Telko is listed on the Helsinki stock exchange.

1994

The chemicals business grows, Aspokem is established.

1995

Subsidiaries established in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

2000

Telko's business operations sold to Kaukomarkkinat.

2000–2004

Subsidiaries established in Russia and Ukraine.

2008

Aspo aquires Kauko-Telko. Aspo Chem and Telko raw material business merged. The new Telko concentrates on plastics and chemicals.

2008

2010

Subsidiaries established in China and Belarus.

2011

RTS (Rauma Terminal Services) is established.

2011

2012

Subsidiary in Kazahkstan, sales office in Czech Republic.

2015

Subsidiary established in Caucasus.

2017

2018

Telko Ltd acquires the business of the Danish company Square Oil A/S.

2019

Telko Ltd acquires the business of the Danish company H H Plastkombi A/S.

2019

Subsidiary established in Romania.

2020

Telko acquires a Swedish company ILS Nordic AB and its subsidiary Autolubes Nordic AB.

2022

Telko acquires an Estonian company Mentum AS.
